{Suite} Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of Birgit Krippner's upcoming exhibition 'Horizont', presented in conjunction with Leica and Progear Photographic.

“Sun and moon risings are powerful experiences. First, ocean and sky are one. You could not tell them apart. Slowly a fine line appeared in the distance – the horizon.

I first had this dream when I was a teenager, living in Austria, watching ships sail up and down the Danube. Shortly after moving to Seatoun in Wellington, while walking at the beach, I watched a cargo ship sailing past. This brought back my dream, into the present.”

Born in Austria, award-winning photographer Birgit Krippner has lived in New Zealand since 2003. Her specialty is capturing candid images using only available light. She often works in low light situations, with this series of images taken on a container ship, the Spirit of Auckland, which stopped in the Panama Canal before heading to Columbia and finally Philadelphia where Krippner disembarked.
