Amos Mann is a composer, photographic artist, and creative writer. He also works in museums, and is currently leading creative and technical teams to produce interactive and immersive experiences at Te Papa.
Image Object Meditations is an exhibition of large-scale fine-art limited edition photographic prints created in 2020 through a new creative and technical process Amos developed working in his studio and in the natural settings around at his home on the Kāpiti coast.
Amos uses 35mm and medium format vintage film cameras to photograph found objects in their natural setting. He then collects the objects and takes them back to the studio. Here, in the dark, he takes a meditative approach to arrange the objects and their film negatives on a light table, creating physical compositions for re-photography.
We need your help to continue providing a year-round programme of online reviews, interviews, portfolios, videos and listings that is free for everyone to access. We’d also like to dream bigger with the services we offer to photographers and the visual arts.
We’ve partnered with Press Patron to give readers the opportunity to support PhotoForum Online.
Every donation helps.
