Charlotte E. Johnson, The Drowning

FATHOM refers to both the measurement of water depth, and the verb describing the act of deep thought. The exhibition employs imagery of the ocean, seascapes, and contemporary portraiture to explore key themes of impermanence, connection to place, and mental health, encouraging the viewer to interpret the works and find their own connections.

FATHOM utilises multiple mediums linked through visual elements, processes and themes, including fabric works, video, unique mixed media paintings, and hand-embellished AI composites. Charlotte E. Johnson is a photographic artist, educator and microscopist living in Auckland. FATHOM will be Charlotte’s debut printed exhibition.
